Black Garden Ant

Lasius niger

Risk

Low

Peak season · Apr–Sep

A nuisance more than a danger. Follows trails to anything sweet.

Signs

  • Lines of small black ants on worktops or patio doors
  • Small piles of soil between paving slabs
  • Winged ants on warm, humid summer days

Prevention

  • Wipe up sugary spills and rinse recycling
  • Seal gaps around door frames and window sills
  • Keep pet food bowls clean

How we treat it

  • We follow the trail back to the nest outside
  • Bait the ants carry home, so the colony is treated
  • A perimeter band to stop new trails getting in

Recommended treatment

Inside-and-out treatment for ants, spiders, roaches and silverfish, with a 60-day re-treat guarantee.
